Nature is a wonderful teacher. It allows kids to make mistakes – BIG HAIRY MISTAKES (at least in your child’s view…and possibly your own 😉 ) – and if your child is really listening, which they often are in nature, they can learn BIG TIME!!

Hopping into a car to set off on a road trip into Outback Queensland is a serious undertaking – particularly when you know there’s a good 6-hours of driving time ahead of you and you have two very active kids sitting in the backseat.

What is it with kids?? When you’re rolling up to check out Australia’s richest Rodeo in the with Cowboy and Cowgirl’s and legendary ‘bucking’ superstars everywhere and all ‘they’ want to do is head straight to Side Show Alley for the carni rides and prizes!

Kitted out in hard hats, cap lamps, bright orange overalls, gumboots and 15-kg worth of tool belt (kidding – this part wasn’t compulsory) we descended into the depths of an underground world of shafts, heavy machinery and alarming warning bells.

There’s a certain amount of ‘quirkiness’ that helps set QT Port Douglas apart from all the other resorts in the Tropical North Queensland (TNQ) region. As you check in you can’t help but notice the little differences straight away…
