Insider Guide to Cairns – 6 Local Tips from Marni at Skyrail Cairns
Marni is your quintessential Cairns chick that has grown up in the Tropical North, embraces the great outdoors and has managed to score herself a job with one of the most popular tourist attractions in Cairns, Skyrail Rainforest Cableway.
As Digital Marketing Manager one of her jobs is to escort social media influencers (top bloggers and instagram stars) on the Skyrail tour. I knew Marni would have some HOT TIPS when it came to the Far North, 'cause whenever I see her name 'pop' up on Social Media she always seems to be having a whale of a time.....
1. Why Cairns?
It has always been my home, when you grow up living in a tropical paradise with the reef, rainforest, countryside and outback all on your door step where else would you rather be? (NOTE: If you want to find out how you get to the awesome view pictured above Click HERE >> Glacier Rock).
2. Best Coffee?
Give me a chocolate milkshake any day, otherwise I will have a cocktail thanks! Thick shakes are best at Coast Roast Cairns Central and Blackbird Espresso do an insane Nutella ice cream hot chocolate.
3. Favourite Food Spots?
La Pizza for breakfast, Dundee’s Restaurant for lunch, The Boatshed for a shared succulent roast dinner with friends and the Pullman Cairns International’s Just Desserts to end the day on a sugar high.
4. Best Local Escape?
We love to explore and are always going camping and boating, Tinaroo or anywhere on the Atherton Tablelands is our go to spot. A visit to Gallo Dairyland near Malanda to stock up on cheese and chocolate for the trip is compulsory.
5. Must Do Activity?
Skyrail Rainforest Cableway is a must do Cairns attraction.
I love being in the rainforest but I also highly recommend the Great Barrier Reef and Fitzroy Island, having just camped on the island it was absolute bliss to have a BBQ on the beach and watch the sunset.
6. If money is no object?
My day would start floating in a hot air balloon above the Atherton Tablelands, taking a heli to a luxurious island, diving in the ocean, island hopping on a super yacht then camping out under the stars!
Where can we find you?
Finding adventure throughout Tropical North Queensland; hiking up mountains, taking our dogs four wheel driving and swimming in creeks, wandering the local markets or relaxing at the beach having long lunches with friends.
When I am not out exploring this great region of ours I am probably at home baking, sewing or making greeting cards! Follow me on instagram @marnibarni If you'd like to learn more about Marni's workplace then read my BlogPosts:
